On August 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the new building of the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina.
The institute’s buildings were built in the 50s and 60s of the last century, before they were scattered around the city. The institute did not even have a clinic. As part of the investment program, a new complex was built and opened in May.
In one place there is an educational building for 900 people, a clinic with 200 beds, a training and simulation center, a vivarium, a gym, and dormitories for 1.2 thousand people. A branch of the Institute of Immunology and Human Genomics of the Academy of Sciences was also organized.
Today, the institute trains specialists in 9 fields: general medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, advanced nursing courses, medical pedagogy, medical prevention, medical biology, traditional treatment, and pharmacy. It has 568 professors and lecturers.
“The Institute has proved to be worthy of the New Uzbekistan. Now its scientific potential should serve our people. We have a Medical Academy, specialized research centers, and regional institutes. What return do our people receive from them? To do this, it is necessary to assign them to the regions, to create a healthy medical and social environment. It is possible, for example, to pay allowances to specialists to reduce the incidence in assigned makhallas. Metaphorically speaking, from the point of view of prevention, they should protect the 36 million population like an umbrella,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The importance of organizing phytobars in makhallas, raising awareness of the benefits of medicinal plants, and creating a pharmaceutical cluster in Bukhara was emphasized.
The Bukhara development project was also discussed.
The need to improve the tourist infrastructure and expand the conditions for visitors in the historical part of Bukhara was noted. It is planned to transfer the western part of Tudakul reservoir to Bukhara Region and organize resorts there.
“In order to achieve a stable economy in Bukhara, we need to increase the tourism potential tenfold. We need to think not only about today and next year, but also 50 years ahead. If 10 million tourists come to the region, the volume of services will increase accordingly, incomes will grow many times, – the President said.
