Two major medical centers – the National Medical Center and the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Diseases have been built in Yashnabad district of the capital.
The President got acquainted with their construction in November 2020 and following the visit, gave instructions on expanding the centers’ capabilities. The practical embodiment of these tasks was the creation of modern conditions and the introduction of advanced working methods.
The area of the medical complex is more than four hectares. Seven buildings with the total area of one and a half thousand square meters were built. Advanced foreign experience was used in construction and equipment.
The National Medical Center is distinguished by its versatility. Departments of surgery, urology, transplantology, traumatology and orthopedics, gynecology, cardiac surgery, nephrology, cardiology, endocrinology, cardio-rheumatology, dentistry, and others have been organized. More than a thousand units of 169 types of modern medical equipment have been installed.
The center has a capacity of 500 beds. More than 200 types of assistance will be provided on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The center can perform over three thousand high-tech surgical operations annually, including coronary artery bypass grafting, aesthetic plastic surgery, arthroplasty, organ and tissue transplantation. The center must be able to carry out remote diagnosis and treatment of patients in remote areas.
The institution cooperates with leading clinics of such countries as Germany, Türkiye, and South Korea. The staff – 250 doctors and 500 medical workers – consists of foreign doctors and domestic specialists who have improved their qualifications abroad.
This is the first center of its kind in our country. It will be assigned to multidisciplinary clinics operating in Karakalpakstan and regions.
The President also visited the Republican Specialized Center for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Diseases, which was opened as part of the complex.
The new center, along with medical work, will coordinate the otorhinolaryngological service in the country. The scientific laboratories “Physiology and pathology of the organs of the upper respiratory tract”, “Physiology and pathology of the organs of hearing and balance”, and “Phoniatry and ronchopathy” were created here. Simulation and practical laboratory, 5 surgical departments, and 60 beds were equipped with modern medical equipment.
The President got acquainted with the conditions in the centers and spoke with doctors. In a conversation with responsible persons, instructions were given on organizing a foreign medical institute near the center, improving the qualifications of personnel, and expanding disease prevention.
