Uzbekistan’s President Holds Talks with Germany’s Federal Chancellor

On September 29, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz within the framework of participation in the first Central Asia-Germany summit in Berlin.

The topical aspects of the bilateral agenda were reviewed, the issues of further development of Uzbek-German multifaceted cooperation were discussed.

A particular attention was paid to expanding business partnership, deepening cooperation in economic, investment, transportation, energy, and other spheres of interaction.

It was noted that the official visit of the Head of Uzbekistan to Berlin in May this year gave a strong impetus to the revitalization of bilateral relations.

The indicators of trade turnover and industrial cooperation have doubled in recent years. Such leading German companies as Volkswagen, MAN, CLAAS, Siemens, Linde, Aurubis, Henkel, Knauf, Papenburg, Deutsche Kabel, and many others are successfully operating in the country.

A new portfolio of projects was formed in mining, energy, chemistry, electrical engineering, textile industry, and infrastructure.

The President outlined a number of new concrete proposals for regular joint economic events, implementation of projects in the field of alternative energy, digitalization of agriculture and water management, deep processing of raw materials, expansion of financial instruments, strengthening of ties between the regions of the two countries, cooperation in the field of migration and mobility.

A mutual commitment to the development of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, practical implementation of joint programs in the field of science and education was expressed.

An exchange of views also took place on regional security issues, including in the context of developments in Afghanistan.

At the end of the meeting, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz to pay an official visit to our country.
