On November 21, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was briefed on measures to improve the quality of service in the Tashkent metro.
In recent years, an additional 32 km of new lines and 21 new stations have been built to expand the metro network. Fifteen modern metro trains have been imported. The new lines pass through the capital’s Yashnabad, Mirabad, Sergeli, Yangi Hayot and Yunusabad districts, facilitating commuting for residents.
Today, the number of metro passengers has increased fivefold and the number of daily trips has reached 720,000. Train arrival time at peak hours has been reduced from 5-7 minutes to 2 minutes.
During the meeting, responsible officials from the transport and construction sectors reported on the current state and future plans of the metro.
The Head of State gave instructions to improve the quality of metro services, comfort of travel and safety at stations. The need to upgrade rolling stock and replace trains that have outlived their lifespan, as well as to ensure a two-minute interval, was highlighted.
Proposals for transforming the Tashkent metro and increasing its revenue were discussed.
