On December 1, on the sidelines of the Global Climate Summit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The meeting addressed pertinent issues regarding the expansion of practical cooperation with this reputable financial institution.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of our state highly praised the fruitful outcomes of the EBRD Board of Governors’ meeting held in Samarkand in May of this year.

It was particularly satisfying to note that the Bank’s investments in our country have exceeded 3.5 billion euros, with 60 percent of the project portfolio being allocated to the private sector.

Confidence was expressed that the ongoing development of the national Partnership Strategy will significantly enhance the quality and scope of cooperation, particularly in areas such as the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, women’s entrepreneurship, the implementation of public-private partnership mechanisms, privatization in the banking sector, irrigation system modernization, road infrastructure development and other sectors.

Special attention was given to expanding interaction within the framework of implementing renewable energy development programs in our country.

Furthermore, issues related to the preparations for the upcoming Foreign Investors Council meeting next year were also discussed.
