President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Qumtepa Youth Small Industrial Zone in Uychi district of Namangan region.
The issues of developing trades and crafts historically established in the makhallas, transforming them into driving forces and thus increasing employment and income for the population, are now being raised to the level of state policy. Blacksmithing is developing in makhallas such as Qumtepa, Dekhqon, Balandariq and Jiydakapa of Uychi district.
In 2021, an industrial zone specializing in blacksmithing were created here, providing the necessary conditions for craftsmen and artisans who work at home. The three-hectare complex has all the necessary infrastructure, including roads, energy, drinking water and sanitation.
In the first phase, 52 projects were implemented and more than 1,500 jobs were created. Artisans buy raw materials from Asia Metal Prof and the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant and make metal gates, doors, visors, grilles and other metal products.
There is a great demand for these products. As a result, businessmen have opened their shops and production facilities in all regions. In addition, products worth US$1.2 million have been exported to neighbouring countries.
In the production process, energy-saving methods are being introduced and solar panels are being used effectively.
In the second phase, a further 45 projects will be implemented on an area of two hectares. This will create 1330 new jobs.
The President gave instructions to the officials responsible for the efficient use of the industrial zone, encouraging young people and unemployed citizens to engage in handicrafts.
Issues of reducing unemployment by working at the makhalla level were also discussed.
In the case of Saykhunabad, 788 makhallas from 14 districts of the region were identified as leaders and senior officials of economic organizations. Together with the Makhalla Seven, they studied the opportunities of 557,000 households.
– In Saykhunabad, I said, “This year will be a year of awakening and revival of our economy. The aim is to invest in human capital, stimulate activity and change the outlook. Uychi district is also a difficult district in economic terms. It is necessary to create a new system here, to help the unemployed to earn an income from the household plot, to open their own business, to realize their abilities, – said the President.
The President also visited the centre of Qumtepa makhalla and got acquainted with the conditions created for the population.
About 5,2 thousand people live in the makhalla. Households specialize in metal processing, agriculture and services.
This year, the appearance of the makhalla has improved. A new building has been constructed for the citizen’s gathering. All houses are connected to the water system. Internal roads and electricity networks have been repaired. Fruit and ornamental trees have been planted along the roads as part of the Yashil Makon programme.
The Makhalla has a sewing workshop, a beauty salon, sports grounds, a medical clinic, a library, a grocery store and a pharmacy.
The new makhalla building also houses the Business Support Centre. Here, some public services are available to the people and entrepreneurs. The President welcomed this and emphasized the need to address issues related to government institutions, if possible within the makhallas themselves.
