As part of the official visit to the Republic of Slovenia, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia Urška Klakočar Zupančič.

Issues of further development of multifaceted Uzbek-Slovenian relations, including at the parliamentary level between the two countries were considered.

The growing intensification of inter-parliamentary exchanges in recent years was noted with satisfaction. In April this year, the Chair of the Commission of the National Assembly of Slovenia Predrag Baković participated in the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Tashkent. “Friendship groups” have been established in the parliaments of both countries.

The importance of parliamentary cooperation at the level of relevant committees was emphasized to support and accelerate joint projects.

Additionally, the need for parliamentary support for humanitarian cooperation was noted, including the organization of cultural and film days, exhibitions, and the development of academic exchanges between universities.

Coordination and mutual support of initiatives in international parliamentary organizations will also be strengthened.

A proposal was made to hold the first Uzbek-Slovenian Inter-Parliamentary Forum in the city of Samarkand, with the participation of deputies and the expert community.

An agreement was reached for the parliaments to adopt a joint “roadmap” for further cooperation.
