An official opening ceremony for the Burkhoniddin Marginoni scientific, educational, and tourist complex was held in the city of Margilan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the event and delivered remarks.

Congratulating the residents of the Fergana region on this historic occasion, the Head of State emphasized that the complex will play an important role not only in the life of Margilan but across the entire Fergana Valley.

It was noted that in recent years the region’s socio-economic development program through 2030 has been implemented consistently. Kokand Airport has been restored, while modern industrial enterprises, educational, healthcare, and cultural facilities, IT parks, and “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential areas are being developed in Margilan and other cities and districts.

These measures are aimed at creating comfortable conditions for people’s work and daily life, ensuring the interests, honor, and dignity of individuals, and promoting the spirit of New Uzbekistan across the regions.

The President stressed that in recent years the Fergana region has been hosting major forums of both national and international significance. The International Festival of Folk and Applied Arts in Kokand and the pottery festival in Rishtan have become traditions. The region also successfully hosts regional cooperation forums among Central Asian countries.

In recent years, large tourist complexes have been built based on national architectural designs that combine historical and modern traditions. For instance, the “Buyuk Ipak Yuli” and Imam Bukhari complexes were opened in Samarkand, as well as the “Arda Khiva” international tourist center in Khorezm. The opening of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent was also an important step in this direction.

It was noted that the history of the Fergana region holds a special place in the exposition of this complex. One of the center’s four main portals is named after Kokand, and the legacy of prominent figures of the First Renaissance era, Ahmad Fergani and Burhoniddin Marginoni, is presented in detail here.

The development of tourism infrastructure is yielding results. In the first quarter of this year, Uzbekistan welcomed about 3 million visitors, while tourism exports exceeded $1.1 billion.

The Head of State also highlighted the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the Fergana region. It was noted that poets and writers such as Uvaysi, Nodira, Anbar Otin, Dilshod Barno, Gulkhani, Mukimi, Furkat, Zavki, Charkhi, Sobir Abdulla, as well as scholars and cultural figures including Aziz Kayumov, Erkin Vakhidov, Khudoiberdi Tukhtaboev, Umarali Normatov, Enakhon Siddikova, and Anvar Obidjon, made a significant contribution to the nation’s spiritual heritage.

The outstanding figures of Uzbek art such as Yusufjon Kizik Shakarjonov, Usta Olim Komilov, Muhiddin Kari-Yakubov, Tamara Khanum, Khalima Nasyrova, Mukarrama Turgunbaeva, Jurakhon Sultanov, and Mamurjon Uzokov made an invaluable contribution to the development of national art and culture.

The President announced that extensive work is planned to properly honor the talent and contributions of masters of art and to pass on their creative heritage to future generations. Schools of Sherali Juraev and Farrukh Zakirov have already been established, with similar schools for Fergana’s master artists to be opened in the future.

The Head of State stressed that the opening of the Burkhoniddin Marginoni scientific, educational, and tourist complex marks the beginning of a new era.

The unique complex, built in line with national architectural traditions and covering 35 hectares, includes an Institute of Islamic Jurisprudence, a makom theater, an open-air amphitheater, a local history museum, an alley of writers and artists, an artisans’ center, hotels, and service facilities.

The complex will contribute to the study and promotion of the rich scholarly heritage of Burkhoniddin Marginoni, the preservation of the region’s ancient craft traditions, and the development of pilgrimage tourism.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that this remarkable complex will take its rightful place among the distinctive landmarks of New Uzbekistan and become one of the hallmarks of the Fergana region.

“There is deep historical and enduring significance in the fact that this complex has been built specifically in Margilan. This blessed city has nurtured many figures of science and education. According to historical sources, this fertile land was known as the “homeland of enlighteners.”

Drawing on such a rich spiritual heritage, we will write new pages in the glorious history of Margilan and the entire Fergana region. We have every reason to take pride in this,” the President said.

He expressed sincere gratitude to the scientists and designers, engineers and builders, workers and staff, and all those who contributed to this noble cause.

The ceremony concluded with a grand cultural program. Performances by folklore and ethnographic ensembles, artists, as well as traditional folk games and askiya, created a festive atmosphere for all.
