On May 21, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Feridun Sinirlioğlu, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit.
The parties discussed the further development of cooperation with the OSCE across the economic and environmental, political, and human dimensions.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of open and constructive dialogue, as well as the steadily strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE and its specialized institutions. The Organization’s leadership regularly visits Uzbekistan, while OSCE ODIHR missions actively participate in monitoring electoral processes in the country.
The results of joint projects in countering transnational threats, reforming the judicial and legal system, promoting gender equality, protecting human rights, and supporting media development were particularly highlighted.
The parties also emphasized the importance of further expanding cooperation in such priority areas as countering cybercrime, advancing digitalization and artificial intelligence, professional development, youth support, and promoting the green agenda.
An agreement was reached to prepare a new cooperation roadmap and hold a series of joint events in Uzbekistan and at OSCE venues.
The sides also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
