President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the fresh fruit harvest in one of the intensive orchards of Parkent district.
Export varieties of cherries, apples, pears and raspberries are grown on 54 hectares of land belonging to the “Meridian Tempo” enterprise. The seedlings were imported from France and Spain. The peculiarity of these trees is that they are self-pollinating, which ensures high yields.
A modern agro-technological system of drip irrigation is implemented in the garden. Water is first accumulated in a special tank, and then it is supplied by gravity, due to the natural slope of the terrain. This avoids electricity costs, reducing the cost of production. In addition, solar panels are installed in the garden, making the farm even more energy efficient.
The harvest is sent for export. This year it is planned to harvest 256 tons of cherries, 500 tons of apples, 480 tons of pears and 30 tons of raspberries. It is especially important that the income from such an orchard is several times higher than that from traditional agricultural crops.
The Head of State gave instructions to expand such intensive methods, introduce the best foreign experience in caring for fruit trees, as well as in packing and preparing products for export.
