New Center for International Events and Tourists Under Construction in Bukhara

03 Nov 2026

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction of a new tourist center in Bukhara.

The historical monuments, craftsmanship traditions, and culinary heritage of ancient Bukhara are of great interest to tourists. The new center is planned to combine this rich heritage with modern services and provide a venue for major international cultural and business events in the city.

In January this year, during discussions on Bukhara’s master plan, the President emphasized the need to link cultural projects with tourism development while ensuring their economic sustainability and effective management. The new center is also designed to bring together various services for visitors in one location.

The center is being built on 50 hectares, with a total of $105 million in investment planned for the project.

The project includes a reception house, an exhibition hall, a museum, two modern hotels, 80 family guesthouses, a 2,000-seat amphitheater, and more than 70 retail and service facilities. Walking areas, handicraft centers, and an artificial lake are also planned. The design of the buildings is intended to harmoniously combine the traditions of Bukhara architecture with modern architectural solutions.

Work is currently underway on utility and communications networks across 10 hectares of the site, with around 50 pieces of specialized equipment involved in the construction.

Once fully operational, the center is expected to create 2,000 jobs and increase tourist arrivals to Bukhara by 2 million annually. Annual revenues to the local budget are projected to reach 288 billion soums.

The President emphasized that the significance of the project is not measured solely by the construction of new facilities. It is important to create an atmosphere worthy of Bukhara’s legacy as a centuries-old center of science, enlightenment, trade, and craftsmanship, and to showcase its rich heritage even more widely to the world.

Every visitor to the new center should feel the historical spirit of the ancient city and see its modern development. At the same time, the people of Bukhara should gain new jobs and income through the development of tourism. Officials were instructed to implement the project with these goals in mind.

The Head of State also heard reports on preparations for Bukhara’s infrastructure for the summits scheduled for 2027 and issued relevant instructions.
