President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Tekhnochem petrochemical plant in Bukhara district, where he reviewed the cluster’s operations and plans for further development.
Deep processing of natural resources and the production of high-value-added products are among the key priorities of Uzbekistan’s industrial policy. The cluster in Bukhara district specializes in processing oil and gas condensate, naphtha, methanol, and pyrolysis distillate. It is the only complex of its kind in the country.
The plant occupies an area of 69 hectares and employs about 500 people. The complex has the capacity to process 100,000 tons of pyrolysis distillate and 160,000 tons of naphtha and gas condensate annually. In addition to fuel, these processes yield products used in the chemical industry. In particular, octane boosters are used to improve gasoline quality, while solvents are used in the production of paints, varnishes, adhesives, and household chemicals.
The Head of State was presented with plans for the next stage of the cluster’s expansion.
A $292 million investment project is planned for implementation by the end of 2028. It involves establishing facilities to process gas condensate and naphtha and produce aromatic hydrocarbons and solvents. As a result, annual processing capacity will increase by an additional 400,000 tons, creating 700 new jobs.
The commissioning of new production facilities will increase demand for technologists, engineers, chemists, and laboratory specialists. In this regard, the Head of State emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between vocational education institutions and industrial enterprises in the region.
The plant plans to export around 180,000 tons of petrochemical products, motor gasoline, and diesel fuel annually to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and European Union countries. In addition, negotiations are underway with foreign partners on a project to process 150,000 tons of liquefied gas between 2028 and 2030.
The President recommended expanding the cluster’s export potential and training qualified personnel for the new production facilities.
