22 Nov 2024

On November 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on additional measures of socio-economic development of Khorezm region.

Entrepreneurship, agro-industry and service sector have been developing dynamically in Khorezm in recent years. The visit of the Head of our state at the beginning of the year and the tasks outlined in its course have given an additional impetus to this process.

It is planned to attract $1.5 billion of investments to the region next year. This will be the basis for creating many enterprises, jobs and prosperity growth.

For example, if 175 hectares of land in Kushkupyr district are attached to the industrial zone, it will be possible to realize projects worth $1 billion. Two thousand jobs will be created there in the electrical, chemical, machine-building and pharmaceutical sectors.

Reducing the Shavat Canal protection zone from 50 meters to 25 meters will accommodate projects worth $30 million. Services worth 1 trillion soums will be provided here and 2.5 thousand new jobs will be created. Around the Gazavat and Polvon canals there is also an opportunity for implementation of projects worth $50 million.

There are also untapped opportunities in agriculture and water management. There are enough conditions for expansion of poultry farming in Kushkupyr district and fish farming in Bagat district. Improvement of water supply in Yangiaryk will provide 1.2 thousand people with jobs in growing melons, rice and fish farming.

There are proposals in the social sphere as well. In particular, the need for quality education is high. Therefore, it is planned to repair 44 schools and kindergartens, build new educational institutions on the basis of public-private partnership. There are also plans to create multidisciplinary medical centers in Urgench, Bagat, Shavat and Yangibazar districts.

The Head of State instructed to generalize these proposals and prepare a draft decree. It is important to turn opportunities into results, provide people with jobs and increase their incomes, noted the President.
