
On the sidelines of the Regional Ecological Summit in Astana, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme.
Key areas of cooperation in environmental protection, sustainable development, and addressing climate challenges were reviewed.
Steady progress in cooperation was noted, including the preparation of national environmental reports, the enhancement of the environmental monitoring system, and the strengthening of institutional capacity.
The Executive Director commended the national projects being implemented in Uzbekistan — “Yashil Makon,” “Bio-Heritage,” “Clean Air,” “Waste-Free Territory,” and “Eco-Culture,” highlighting their importance in ensuring environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life.
Inger Andersen also expressed readiness to expand practical partnership in implementing the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, put forward during the current summit.
