President of Uzbekistan discusses prospects of expanding cooperation with the European business

In the framework of Tashkent international investment forum and Foreign Investors Council session, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan received the heads of a range of prominent companies of Europe, including Standard Chartered, International Hospitals Group, LVMH, Airbus.

The Head of our state underlined that the increasing number of participants from European countries is a testament to the mutual interest of parties to expanding economic and investment cooperation.

The growth of trade turnover, number of joint enterprises and investment portfolio with the European countries was noted with satisfaction. Active cultural and humanitarian, education and touristic exchanges are established.

Prospects of expanding partnership in financing small business and infrastructure projects, as well as implementing new credit lines with Uzbekistan’s banks were considered with the head of Standard Chartered Saif Malik.

Plans on constructing a clinic, and issues of managing multidisciplinary medical center in Uzbekistan on the principles of public-private partnership were discussed with the chairperson of International Hospitals Group Chester King.

The importance of accelerating the opening of a flagship LVMH store in Tashkent-city was underscored. Opportunities for integrating Uzbek producers of silk and natural ingredients in the supply chains of the company were discussed.

In a conversation with the president of Airbus company for Europe Johan Pelissier particular attention was paid to the prospects of expanding partnership in the aviation sphere. The importance of adopting a long-term Cooperation program was emphasized.

The heads of European companies thanked the President of Uzbekistan for a warm reception and favorable conditions created for the foreign investors in our country. Readiness was expressed to further participate in the implementation of important projects and programs in priority sectors of economy.
