On July 3 on the margins of the Economic Cooperation Organization summit in the city of Khankendi, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the acting deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan on economic issues Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
Topical aspects of further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economic, transport and logistics, and energy spheres, were discussed.
The sustainable growth of trade turnover and the number of joint enterprises was noted with particular satisfaction.
Business contacts have intensified. In May this year, Uzbek trade houses were opened in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif. A preferential trade agreement was signed in June.
The Leader of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of further development of cross-border trade and relevant infrastructure, promotion of cooperation projects in mining, textile and pharmaceutical sectors, production of construction materials, processing of agricultural products and other areas.
The importance of accelerating the implementation of a strategically important regional project – the construction of the Trans-Afghan railroad, was noted.
