On February 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Turchin, who is on an official visit to Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guest conveyed warm greetings and best wishes of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the Head of state.
Current issues related to further expanding the multifaceted partnership of Uzbek-Belarusian relations were considered in the context of implementing agreements reached at the highest level.
The high level of cooperation achieved, particularly in the trade and economic sphere, was noted with satisfaction. Last year, bilateral trade increased by 25 percent, reaching nearly $1 billion. Cooperation between leading enterprises in priority sectors continue to expand.
The importance of shaping a new economic agenda through the promotion of joint projects in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, the textile and food industries, agriculture and other areas was emphasized.
The need to intensify interregional contacts, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges, was also highlighted.
