The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin continued negotiations in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations from both countries.
The talks focused on the further development and deepening of Uzbek-Russian relations within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, particularly in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
It was noted with satisfaction that bilateral relations are currently at the highest level and are of a special nature, encompassing all areas and directions of interstate interaction.
“Your state visit can rightly be called historic. It marks the beginning of a new era in the relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between our countries,” emphasized Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue intensive contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, ministries, departments, regions, public, expert and business circles.
To this end, full use will be made of the possibilities offered by the Joint Commission at the level of the Heads of Government and the Intergovernmental Commission, whose next meetings will be held by the end of the year.
The need to continue regular political consultations and close cooperation within international and regional structures, including the UN, CIS, SCO, and other multilateral platforms, was also noted.
The stable dynamics of mutual trade turnover was noted with satisfaction. Over the past 7 years, it has increased by 2.5 times. The parties agreed on a new goal – to reach a trade volume of US$30 billion in the near future.
In order to achieve this goal, a full-fledged trade representation of Uzbekistan in Russia will be established.
New industrial cooperation projects in energy, metallurgy, petrochemicals, machinery, mining, agriculture, logistics, pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence and many other areas worth over US$20 billion have been developed for this summit.
A Joint Investment Platform will be launched to promote such projects.
In the energy sector, agreements have been reached on modernizing the gas transportation system, increasing the supplies of gas, oil, and petroleum products, and implementing hydrocarbon processing projects.
Agreements on the construction of a small nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan will also be signed during the visit.
The acceleration of interregional cooperation was particularly noted. Last week, the leaders of all of Uzbekistan’s regions visited Russia. Today, the first meeting of the Uzbek-Russian Council of Regions will be held under the chairmanship of the heads of state.
A number of important areas have also been discussed, including food security, innovation projects, digital technologies, artificial intelligence and migration.
Active exchanges will continue in the fields of culture and the arts, science, health, tourism, youth and sport.
The parties welcomed agreements to open branches of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University and the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, brief reports were heard from members of the delegations with concrete proposals in various areas of practical cooperation.
Following the negotiations, the Heads of State instructed the adoption of “roadmaps” for each direction with implementation mechanisms.
