Talks between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh were held at Mongolia’s State palace, in a narrow format and with participation of the official delegations.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of our state expressed sincere gratitude to the leader of Mongolia for the warm reception and invitation to pay a return state visit to this country, which has become the first in the history of bilateral relations.
It was particularly emphasized that the current visit opens a new stage in the development of Uzbek-Mongolian multifaceted ties. The President of Uzbekistan also congratulated the Mongolian side on the upcoming People’s Revolution Day.
Topical issues of further development of Uzbek-Mongolian relations of friendship and multifaceted cooperation have been discussed.
Contacts and exchanges at all levels have been intensified. Trade turnover indicators are dynamically growing. The number of joint ventures is expanding, the first cooperation projects have been launched in the spheres of healthcare, education, e-commerce, agriculture, production of construction materials.
The day before, a joint business forum was successfully held with broad participation of business circles and industry agencies of the two countries, and a trade house with a showroom of Uzbek products was opened in Ulaanbaatar.
During the talks, special attention was paid to deepening economic cooperation.
A significant potential for a multiple increase in mutual trade in the coming years, primarily by expanding the nomenclature and volumes of supplies of demanded products, has been noted.
To this end, the importance of accelerating the adoption of agreements on preferential trade and investment protection was emphasized.
The Head of our State advocated deepening industrial cooperation in specific sectors of the economy. A number of promising areas of cooperation have been identified as priorities.
Primarily, it is partnership in the extractive sector, including the development of a geological exploration program, development of raw materials deposits, technology transfer, exchange of experience and personnel training.
In this context, the opening of a representative office of the Ministry of Geology of Uzbekistan in Ulaanbaatar to promote projects in this sector was noted with satisfaction.
Interest was expressed in deepening comprehensive cooperation in agriculture through the creation of joint clusters and promotion of cooperation projects on processing and production of meat and dairy, wool and leather products.
Special attention was paid to strengthening transportation interconnectivity and development of new logistics routes. Plans have been outlined to launch direct air service between the capitals by the end of the year.
It was proposed to conduct applied research to identify the shortest and most efficient transport corridors in cooperation with the International Analytical Institute for landlocked countries.
The importance of continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchanges was emphasized. It was noted with satisfaction that the Days of Uzbek Culture, art and tourism events are being held in Ulaanbaatar these days.
An agreement was reached on active development of cooperation between higher education institutions, resumption of Mongolian youth studying in Uzbek universities within the framework of allocated quotas.
It was agreed to adopt a “road map” for timely and qualitative implementation of the agreements reached.
In conclusion, the Head of our state invited the President of Mongolia to pay a return visit to Uzbekistan.
