23 Jun 2025

On June 23 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on urgent measures in foreign trade, transport and logistics sphere.

The military actions occurring in the past days in the Middle East further exacerbated the already unstable situation. This cannot not affect the external economic ties and access of Uzbekistan to the world markets.

In this regard, it was highlighted at the meeting that it’s necessary to objectively evaluate the situation and urgently take measures in such key areas as foreign trade, investments and transport.

In particular, the need was indicated to diversity export routes and re-direct cargo to other, safer ports. According to the estimated calculations, this can lead to an increase of transport costs to 30 percent. In this regards, instructions were given to coordinate alternative routes with the partner-countries and support export-oriented enterprises.

The heads of Ministry of transport, Ministry of investments and foreign trade, Chamber of trade and commerce and other relevant agencies were set a task to closely interact with enterprises, facilitate them in export-import operations, and finding new markets.

Additionally the importance was highlighted to maintain sustainable paces of production and price stability in the domestic market.
