As part of the program of the first summit in the “Central Asia-European Union” format, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon on April 3.
At the beginning of the conversation, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan noted with deep satisfaction the historic outcomes of the trilateral summit held in Khujand on March 31 this year.
It was emphasized that the full settlement of border issues opens a new chapter in the development of regional cooperation.
Topical issues of further deepening Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, strategic partnership and alliance have been addressed.
Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of the agreements at the highest level.
The importance of working out concrete measures to increase trade turnover and accelerate cooperation projects during the forthcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission this month was emphasized.
The leaders discussed issues of the regional agenda, as well as preparations for bilateral and multilateral events.
