On September 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Namangan region to review regional development and living conditions.

The pace of transformation is already evident at the airport, where new modern terminals are being built with $140 million in investments.

The project was presented during the Head of State’s visit to the region last year, and today construction work is proceeding at an accelerated pace.

The current airport can no longer cope with the growing flow of passengers. The new three-story terminal will increase passenger traffic by 2.5 times. It will feature modern border control and visa processing areas, a business lounge, retail and public spaces, a medical center and duty-free shops.

At the same time, a large cargo terminal is being built, designed to handle up to 50 tons of cargo per day and export to 90 countries around the world. Most importantly, this will create a unified cargo system for Fergana Valley, which will significantly strengthen the region’s export and transit potential.

This year alone, it is planned to attract 1.5 million foreign and more than 2 million domestic tourists to Namangan region, as well as to increase the volume of service exports to $210 million. At the same time, exports from the neighboring Andijan and Fergana regions are also growing.

To increase the airport’s capabilities, the fleet of specialized equipment is being updated, which will allow it to receive and service different types of aircraft. In addition, the project includes the construction of a catering complex, a fuel filling station, and other infrastructure facilities. The new terminals are scheduled to be commissioned next year.

The President noted the need for comprehensive development of the area around the airport. As is common in advanced countries around the world, modern hotels, shopping and entertainment centers, as well as a wide range of related services should appear here. It is instructed to pay special attention to the creation of convenient parking lots and service facilities to make guests’ stay as comfortable as possible.
