A meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, in the city of Dushanbe.
At the beginning of the conversation, the leader of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of Tajikistan on the fruitful chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States and wished him success in the upcoming “Central Asia-Russia” meetings and the CIS summit.
Topical issues of further expansion and strengthening of Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance were discussed.
The positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation were noted with deep satisfaction. The volume of trade and cargo transportation, as well as the frequency of flights, are growing.
Particular attention was paid to taking coordinated measures to increase mutual trade and promote cooperation projects in industry, energy, agriculture, and other priority areas.
The importance of continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchanges and productive interregional contacts was emphasized.
A detailed exchange of views also took place on key issues on the international and regional agenda, including preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Tashkent in November this year.
