During the official visit to the city of Brussels, a meeting was held between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and King Philippe of the Belgians at the Castle of Laeken.

Issues related to the further expansion of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian spheres were discussed. An exchange of views took place on topical issues on the international and regional agenda.

Highly appreciating the fruitful results of the negotiations between the President of Uzbekistan and the EU leadership, King Philippe sincerely congratulated the leader of our country on the signing of the historic Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union.

The steady development of Uzbek-Belgian relations was noted with satisfaction. Active contacts have been established at the ministerial level, political consultations are held regularly, and friendship groups have been created in the parliaments of the two countries.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation is being strengthened. Twinning relations have been established between Tashkent and Kortrijk, Samarkand and Liège. A bust of our great scientist Avicenna has been unveiled in Kortrijk.

Mutual trade is growing, and Belgian companies are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, particularly in the textile, logistics, and services sectors. Last year, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce opened in Tashkent.

During the conversation, the importance of organizing new business missions of Belgian companies to Uzbekistan, as well as holding mutual cultural events, was emphasized.

Following the meeting, the Head of our state invited King Philippe to visit Uzbekistan.
