
On March 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The leaders reviewed current issues related to the further development and strengthening of Uzbek–Russian relations within their comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, in line with agreements reached at the highest level.
The dynamic development of trade and economic cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Bilateral trade increased by 10 percent last year to reach $13 billion and has grown by a further 32 percent since the beginning of this year.
The implementation of large-scale cooperation projects continues across industry, energy, transport, and other priority sectors of the economy.
Particular attention was given to advancing the project for the construction of Uzbekistan’s first nuclear power plant.
The effective work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was highly commended.
It was noted that the parties are actively preparing for the upcoming International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM. Central Asia,” to be held in Tashkent this April, which has become an effective platform for promoting new forms and areas of cooperation.
The Presidents exchanged views on current international issues, including the situation in the Middle East, South Asia, and Ukraine.
They also discussed the schedule of upcoming events.
