President visits new residential area in Kokand

27 Apr 2026

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the Fergana region began with a review of construction work at the “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential area in Kokand.

In Uzbekistan, particular attention is paid to improving living conditions and implementing modern urban planning standards in the regions. The “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential areas being developed nationwide have taken an important place among major social projects aimed at enhancing public well-being.

The new residential area, being built in Kokand, is not just a housing complex, but a modern center transforming the economic and social landscape of the region.

Kokand has long been one of the cities with high population density and developed entrepreneurship. In this context, demand for housing continues to grow each year. Outdated infrastructure and limited living space require the city’s expansion based on modern technologies.

This residential area represents a practical solution to these challenges. Its construction is being carried out in line with instructions given by the President during his visit to the Fergana region two years ago. Families are being provided with modern apartments equipped with all essential amenities.

A total of 1 trillion 850 billion soums has been allocated for the implementation of the project. Comprehensive infrastructure designed for 25,000 residents is being developed in the area. In addition to 84 multi-story residential buildings, plans include the construction of modern schools, preschool institutions, a higher education facility, business and shopping centers, as well as parks for public recreation.

The implementation of these projects will enable residents of the new area to work, receive an education, access commercial and service facilities, and enjoy leisure activities within walking distance of their homes.

The first phase of the project has already been successfully completed: 56 ten-story buildings, comprising 4,394 apartments, have been commissioned. Move-in ready apartments are being offered to the public with a 35 percent down payment, at an annual interest rate of 16 percent over a 20-year term.

The Head of State inspected the conditions and amenities in one of the new apartments. He emphasized the social significance of the residential area, noting that the conditions being created here should not only improve people’s daily lives but also contribute to shaping a modern outlook and culture of living.

During the visit, the President held a conversation with local elders from the Fergana region.

They noted that the principles of a social state are being consistently implemented at the local level: modern educational and medical institutions are being established, mahallas are being improved, new enterprises are being launched, and opportunities for entrepreneurship are expanding. All of this, they said, is transforming daily life, strengthening well-being, and enhancing social stability. They expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the ongoing reforms.

The President also reviewed presentations on the second phase of construction of the “Yangi Uzbekistan” residential area and on the development of the city of Kokand.
