President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a specialized boarding school № 102 for children with hearing disabilities in the Almazar District.
The school, established in 1966, went through a complete overhaul in 2016. The current number of students at school is 221. The children are taught by defectologists and teachers with higher education. Over the recent year, three out of 21 graduates of the school enrolled higher-educational institutions.
There are four academic buildings, such as a dormitory for 280 students, a kitchen, a library, a gym and an assembly hall.
The President has talked to the teachers and got acquainted with the educational process.
The khokimiyat (mayor’s office) of the city of Tashkent was instructed to repair the kitchen and the technology room of this boarding school as well as to organize a sport complex and a manufacturing workshop.
The Ministry of Public Education has been tasked to conduct a medical examination of over 2.6 hearing-impaired children together with «Zamin» foundation, provide children with hearing aids and gradually transmit the students, who will restore their hearing, to general education schools.
