On May 16, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Khalq Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The current issues of further strengthening friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were considered.
The development of productive inter-parliamentary dialogue, including in a regional format was noted with satisfaction.
The President has sincerely congratulated the Turkmen side on the successful holding of several major international events – the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum and the meeting of the Dialogue of Women of the Central Asian States and Russia on May 12-13 this year in Ashgabat.
The proposal to hold the forum regularly, with the organization of a permanent secretariat, was supported.
The views were exchanged on the international agenda, the issues of continuing close regional interactions and developing productive cooperation as a part of the multilateral organizations, including on promoting peace, security and the economic recovery of Afghanistan.
