The visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Samarkand began with a visit to the mausoleum of Islam Karimov accompanied by the President of our State. A Distinguished guest laid flowers at the grave of the First President of Uzbekistan. The verses from the Holy Quran and the du’a (‘the supplications’) were recited.
It has expressed a respect and fraternal attitude towards our people.
The Turkmen guests visited the Mirzo Ulugbek Museum Complex.
The complex is established next to the observatory of the great scientist, and consists of two halls with six sections. It exhibits more than a hundred items, books, manuscripts, the original of the quadrant, dating back to the times of Mirzo Ulugbek.
The unique observatory and the scientific heritage of our great ancestor made a great impression on the guests.
Furthermore, the Presidents of both countries visited the mausoleum of Amir Temur. The surahs from the Quran were recited in memory of the great ruler.
The guests were told about the life, military mastery and the great power of Sakhibkiran. As it is well-known, Amir Temur patronised the scientific development, culture, trade and handicrafts in the country, as well as many outstanding structures were built under his rule. In the countries of modern Central Asia, the heritage of Sakhibkiran is carefully preserved.
The Presidents visited the Registan Ensemble.
The guests were told the history of the three magnificent architectural monuments – Mirzo Ulugbek, Sherdor and Tillakori madrasahs. The architectural traditions of our people, the decoration of the madrasahs and the meanings within the ornaments generated a tremendous interest among the delegation of Turkmenistan.
