The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held the face-to-face negotiations.
The Leaders of the two countries discussed the issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial Uzbek-Tajik cooperation based on the centuries-old ties of friendship and good-neighborliness between our fraternal peoples.
The negotiations have focused on the issues of strengthening bilateral ties and radically expanding the agenda of practical cooperation in the political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic, transport and logistics, investment, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Over the past six years, a breakthrough has been achieved in all areas of cooperation. The agreements reached at the highest level are being successfully implemented. The exchanges of regular contacts take place between the governments, ministries and departments, as well as the regions of the two countries.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik strategic partnership.
The Presidents expressed their readiness to attach the new practical substance to relations through the active growth of trade and strengthening of industrial cooperation as well as development of logistics and transit capacities of the two countries, as well as the implementation of water and energy projects.
There was an exchange of views on the regional and international agenda. The issues of ensuring peace and stability in Central Asia were discussed.
The commitment to continue mutually beneficial cooperation as part of multilateral structures has been confirmed.
