On November 25, the documents on the management of the Navoiy Free Economic Zone and the cargo terminal of the Navoiy International Airport were signed.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
«At present, the geopolitical situation in the world requires each country to properly use its capabilities and resources, and to create new trade and logistics corridors. In this regard, we are holding talks with the world prestigious companies and studying their most suitable proposals. Our objective is to increase the export potential of our country by at least 3-4 times by 2030», the President has said.
The Navoiy Free Economic Zone and the Navoiy International Airport have great opportunities in terms of industry and logistics. They have the necessary infrastructure and a well-established system of work. For their effective use, an agreement was signed with the «DP World» company of the United Arab Emirates on the management of the Navoiy Free Economic Zone, as well as an agreement with the Emirates company «Terminals Holding» on the management of the cargo terminal of the Navoiy airport.
«DP World» will introduce the international legal norms in the Navoiy Free Economic Zone that meet the requirements of foreign investors, as well as attract large manufacturers.
The objectives of the «Terminals Holding» are to increase the cargo turnover at the Navoiy International Airport and connect to large cargo hubs. This cooperation will make a significant contribution to the integration of Uzbekistan into the key international transport corridors and increase the transit volumes at least tenfold.
In general, these two agreements will serve to expand innovative and high-tech services in our country, the development of transport communications, which are important for the domestic economy.
«I wish the dynamic development for these two companies in Uzbekistan. I am confident that these projects will further increase the scale of close cooperation between our countries», the President has said at the conclusion of his speech.
At the ceremony, the CEOs of the «DP World» and «Terminals Holding» expressed satisfaction with the reached agreements and noted that this opens up great opportunities for both sides.
Concluding his visit to the Navoiy Region, the President has returned to Tashkent.
