On October 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, who is on an official visit to Uzbekistan.
The meeting focused on practical aspects of expanding Uzbek-Danish relations in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The sides noted with satisfaction the significant intensification of bilateral cooperation. Last year, Uzbekistan appointed its first Ambassador to Denmark, with residence in Stockholm. This year, the Danish side appointed a Special Representative for Central Asia.
Over recent years, bilateral trade has increased almost fivefold. Joint projects involving leading Danish companies are being implemented in Uzbekistan in the mining, chemical and food industries, agriculture, water supply, and other sectors.
Particular attention was paid to further increasing mutual trade and attracting Danish investment, advanced technologies and know-how to the energy, pharmaceutical, transport and logistics, agro-industrial, and other promising sectors.
The meeting also highlighted significant potential for developing cooperation in education, culture, and tourism.
The sides exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen the institutional and legal framework for the systematic expansion of cooperation.
