President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Amir Timur Square in Tashkent and laid a wreath at the foot of the monument to the outstanding statesman, renowned commander, and patron of science, culture, and art Amir Temur.

These days, the country is marking a significant date — the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur. On this occasion, numerous spiritual, educational, scientific, and cultural events are being held across the country.

Amir Temur is a great historical figure who, in the 14th century, during an extremely difficult period, restored national statehood in the region, demonstrating unwavering courage in the struggle for the freedom of the Motherland. The powerful state he founded left an indelible mark on the history of world civilization. Even after seven centuries, scholars from around the world continue to study the life and legacy of Amir Temur with great interest. The fact that thousands of artistic, scientific, and cultural works dedicated to Amir Temur and the Timurid era have been created in different countries, and that this number continues to grow, testifies to the truly enduring significance of his personality and legacy.

Our compatriots feel a deep sense of pride that such a great figure as Amir Temur was born on the sacred land of our Motherland. A thorough study of the history and legacy of Amir Temur and the Timurid era is becoming more important than ever, especially today, in the context of building the New Uzbekistan. The Timurid Renaissance, created by this glorious dynasty, has become a source of confidence, inspiration, and creative energy for our people as they lay the foundation for a new Renaissance in Uzbekistan.

Such wise sayings of Amir Temur as “Strength is in justice” and “Justice makes the world prosperous” serve today as guiding principles and a practical framework for implementing large-scale reforms aimed at building a social state and elevating human dignity in our country. In this regard, the legacy of Sahibkiran is not only part of our people’s glorious past but is also inextricably linked to our current development and long-term strategic goals.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has paid special attention to the in-depth study of the legacy of Amir Temur and the Timurid era, as well as to its wide promotion both domestically and internationally. To this end, a separate resolution has been adopted on the occasion of the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur, and large-scale efforts are underway.

In particular, April will be observed annually as Amir Temur Month. New scientific and literary works, films, theatrical productions, and works of fine art are being created. The renowned work The Institutes of Timur has also been republished. Across the country, state awards, squares and avenues, as well as educational and cultural institutions, bear the name of our great ancestor. The Temurbeklar Maktabi schools operating in the regions serve as a unique model for educating young people in the spirit of devotion to the Motherland.

A clear example of the consistent and systematic continuation of this work is the international conference currently being held in the capital, dedicated to Amir Temur and the Timurid Renaissance. Alongside scholars from our country, the event is bringing together prominent historians, poets, writers, and representatives of culture and society from around the world.

Following the teachings of Sahibkiran, great attention is paid in our country today to building a fair and just state, providing assistance to those in need, supporting youth, women, and the older generation, developing science and education, promoting creativity, openness to the world, and cooperation with various countries. These aspects also clearly demonstrate the relevance of Amir Timur’s legacy in our life today.

In order to strengthen our sense of identity, restore our rich history, and pass on the legacy of our ancestors to future generations, major spiritual and educational centers have been established in recent years. The Center of Islamic Civilization has been built in Tashkent, along with the Imam Bukhari Complex in Samarkand. In addition, the State Museum of the History of the Timurids, originally constructed 30 years ago, has been reconstructed in line with modern standards. It is now evolving into a center of science and education, innovation, new ideas, and research. All necessary conditions have been created to foster the younger generation in the spirit of national pride and patriotism.

During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the memory of Amir Temur, and a wreath was laid at the foot of the monument.

As is well known, Sahibkiran Amir Temur, wherever he went, attached great importance to the creation of gardens and parks and the improvement of cities. In continuation of these traditions, large-scale landscaping works were also carried out in Amir Temur Square.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev planted a tree in the square.
