Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan underline the importance of expanding strategic partnership

On April 3, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in the city of Samarkand to participate in the first “Central Asia-EU” summit.

The President of Turkmenistan conveyed to the Head of our state sincere greetings from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership have been considered.

A steady growth of trade turnover, which exceeded $1.1 billion at the end of last year, has been noted with deep satisfaction.

Cooperation projects in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture and water management are being successfully implemented. A cross-border trade zone “Shavat-Dashoguz” is being jointly established. Activities are carried out within the framework of active interregional contacts as well as cultural and humanitarian exchange.

Special attention is paid to the preparation of upcoming bilateral meetings and multilateral summit events, as well as promotion of joint projects of multifaceted partnership.
