On March 25 last year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave start to the construction of new electricity stations in Namangan region. Today the first stage of Naryn HPP cascade is put into operation.

During the trip to the region the Head of State got acquainted with the new energy facility.

The development of renewable energy sources is determined as a strategic direction for ensuring sustainability of the national economy. In the past years, over ten solar and wind power stations, as well as hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of 450 megawatt have been launched in Kashkadarya, Navoi, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions.

Today the “Uzbekhydroenergo” joint stock company is implementing a project on the construction of a cascade consisting of six HPP on Naryn river worth over $428 million and with aggregate capacity of 228 megawatt.

HPP-1 is launched at the first stage. It’s noteworthy that it was fully built using domestic materials and equipment, which allows it to be called the first national hydroelectric power station.

HPP-1 can produce 171 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year and create 130 new jobs. The project implementation will ensure 430 thousand households with electricity and allow to save 290 million cubic meters of gas annually, equivalent to almost 300 billion soums. Thus, the Naryn cascade is not only important for energy production, but also has significant social and economic value.

For the first time in the history of Uzbekistan’s hydroenergy, horizontal capsular hydrounits are implemented here, distinct by the high efficiency even with low water pressure, opening a new page in the development of national hydroenergy.

Spillway structure is built at the station, as well as administrative and service buildings, and control room. To protect the environment and landscape the territory 6 thousand decorative trees have been planted, it’s planned to plant additional 7 thousand seedlings of fruit trees in the spring.

This way, the facility will also become a center of eco-tourism.

Overall, the Naryn HPP cascade is a strategic project aimed at developing green economy and increasing the welfare of the population. In 2026 the launch of the second and third stations is planned, the remaining – in 2027. Each of them will have a capacity of 38 megawatt and create new jobs.

Such major energy projects have a significant meaning for ensuring the population with stable electricity supply, uninterrupted work of industrial sectors and increasing the economic effectiveness.
