President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on a state visit to the People’s Republic of China, visited Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The national anthems of Uzbekistan and China were played, after which the head of state laid a wreath at the foot of the Monument to National Heroes, paying tribute to the fighters who gave their lives for the national independence and freedom of the Chinese people in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Tiananmen Square is traditionally regarded as the symbolic heart of the Chinese nation.
It was here that the foundation of the People’s Republic of China was proclaimed on October 1, 1949. The Monument to National Heroes was built in the mid-20th century.
