At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a working visit to Azerbaijan on November 23-24.
The head of state will participate in the first summit of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in Baku.
The agenda of the event includes issues of further expansion of multilateral cooperation under the Programme, establishment of a Trust Fund to support regional projects, adoption of a “road map” for digitalization of transport corridors, promotion of business initiatives and others.
It should be noted that the SPECA Programme was established on March 26, 1998 in accordance with the Tashkent Declaration to promote economic cooperation and integration of the countries of the region into the world economy. Its member states are Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
A number of SPECA business events are currently taking place in Baku, including an economic forum and an exhibition of the industrial potential of the Central Asian countries.
