On November 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso on the sidelines of the COP29 summit in Baku.
Practical aspects of expanding full-scale cooperation with this reputable international financial institution were reviewed.
With special satisfaction, it was emphasized that the Bank’s investments in our country have exceeded 5 billion euros. According to this indicator, Uzbekistan is the EBRD’s largest partner in the region.
With the active participation of the Bank, privatization measures in the banking sector are implemented, the regulatory and legal framework in the field of investment and subsoil use is improved.
The Head of our state paid special attention to the issues of improving the quality of project preparation and performance.
The center of attention is the implementation and subsequent filling of the Partnership Strategy between Uzbekistan and the EBRD. Implementation of new projects and programs in energy efficiency, development of small and medium businesses, women and youth entrepreneurship, introduction of PPP mechanisms in the social sector and infrastructure, as well as development of “green” cities have been identified as priorities of cooperation.
There was also an interchange of views on the preparation and organization of the next meeting of the Foreign Investors Council next year.
