President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku.
At the beginning of the meeting, the two leaders welcomed the steady development of the strategic partnership and wide-ranging practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
It was noted that productive high-level dialogue in recent years has brought bilateral relations to a new stage of development. Uzbekistan is actively cooperating with Qatari companies in energy, the chemical industry, food security, transport, construction and other sectors. Investment volumes have also increased significantly since the beginning of this year.
Growing cultural and humanitarian ties are also bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together.
The leaders also identified promising areas for further bilateral cooperation. Plans include the participation of a high-level Uzbek delegation in the Doha Forum in December, as well as meetings of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and Business Council on the sidelines of the event.
The leaders also exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
