As part of the working visit agenda in Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
At the outset of the conversation, the Head of our state sincerely congratulated the leader of Azerbaijan on the successful organization of the UN Climate Summit (COP29).
Current issues of further expansion of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship and alliance in the context of the agreements reached at the highest level in August this year were discussed.
The current highest level of cooperation in the Year of Intensive Development of Multidimensional Relations between the two countries was marked with satisfaction.
The volumes of trade turnover are growing, cooperation projects in automobile industry, textile, electrical engineering, agriculture, construction industry, urban development and other fields are being successfully implemented.
The importance of further building up the portfolio of projects, including by attracting the funds of the Joint Investment Company was emphasized.
The sides also discussed issues of expanding practical cooperation aimed at assisting the economic development of Afghanistan.
Special attention was paid to continuing active cultural, humanitarian and interregional exchanges, as well as preparing a rich program of events within the framework of celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025.
The meeting also included a ceremony of launching a joint garment factory in the city of Khankendi.
