President of Uzbekistan underscores the progress on WTO accession

On the margins of the SOR29 climate conference in Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the National Pavilion of our country.

The sides considered relevant aspects of strengthening practical interaction on our country’s accession to the WTO.

Satisfaction was expressed with the process of holding meetings of the Working Group, as well as the dynamics of negotiations with member countries of this international organization.

The work on harmonization of national legislation with the norms and rules of the WTO, including the abolition of export subsidies is actively carried out.

Special attention has been paid to improving the skills of Uzbek specialists in international trade regulation.

Views were exchanged on measures to support Uzbekistan’s efforts to conclude negotiations and join the organization in the coming years.
