President of Uzbekistan identifies priority areas for investment cooperation with leading U.S. financial institutions

On the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President and Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States  John Jovanovic and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Ben Black.

At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guests conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

The discussions focused on expanding the participation of U.S. financial institutions in financing strategic projects in Uzbekistan, particularly in infrastructure development, critical minerals, energy, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies.

In cooperation with EXIM Bank, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint projects aimed at modernizing Uzbekistan’s energy sector. Special attention was paid to the further development of export credit financing for initiatives of domestic businesses in priority areas.

A DFC initiative to establish a joint investment platform aimed at supporting projects in healthcare, energy modernization, and infrastructure development was supported.

The parties emphasized the importance of moving to the practical implementation stage of major infrastructure initiatives, including the construction of a new international airport in Tashkent, the development of a modern medical complex in the Fergana region, the launch of a digital bank, and the establishment of data centers and dry ports.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to adopt a joint roadmap for advancing the investment and technology projects discussed.
